Nobel Prize


The prizes are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, except for the peace prize which is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

Among the Nobel Laureates, the two most common dates for birthdays are 21 May and 28 February.

Between 1901 and 2015, the Nobel Prizes and the Prize in Economic Sciences were awarded 573 times.

To date, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize Laureate is Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 years old when awarded the 2014 Peace Prize.







Adolf Hitler forbade three German Nobel Laureates, Richard Kuhn, Adolf Butenandt and Gerhard Domagk, from accepting the Nobel Prize. All of them could later receive the Nobel Prize Diploma and Medal, but not the prize amount.

Of the 103 individuals awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, 16 are women. The first time a Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to a woman was in 1905, to Bertha von Suttner.
